Pratique o Mindfulness

In literal translation, Mindfulness means "Mindfulness", a term used to characterize a set of mind exercises, techniques, a mental state, based on a concept of psychology. That means to say that Mindfulness is the idea of being fully aware of what is going on in our mind, in our body, in our emotions and in our thoughts.

This type of mental state is induced when we intentionally focus our attention on the direct experience of the moment we are living, in a non-judgmental and open attitude. Mindfulness can be trained through psychoeducational exercises and meditation, or through some simple techniques that can be applied in our daily lives.

You may have noticed that sometimes, our mind takes on a life of its own and we cannot take control over it. The main objective of this practice is the great secret to assume the purpose of our thoughts.

When we start to practice Mindfulness, we turn our attention to our goals, our purposes, in the moment we are living and we do not or should make any kind of judgment. Focusing on the present moment means that we are not involved with thoughts or memories about the future or the past. We live in the present day, on autopilot mode. Therefore, we can say that the intention of this practice is to make us have full attention to the current moments.

For this, the essential thing is to be beginners, that is, to get involved with someone or something, as if it were the first time. Practitioners of this technique make this attitude a daily habit.

Among the main benefits of Mindfulness, which have already been proven through research, we can mention improved sleep, reduced stress and irritability, combating depression and anxiety. In addition, our creativity, memory, physical and mental stamina also increase.

Some studies have also proven that the practice of this type of meditation produces an effective reduction in terminal or serious diseases such as AIDS, cancer and chronic pain.

To start practicing Mindfulness, it is essential to take a moment for you. A good tip is to reserve at least three minutes of your day to day and try to concentrate. Increase your practice time at baby steps. Don't worry if you lose concentration. Our mind has really been programmed to travel.

The second tip is to try to do the meditation in a noise-free place where you feel completely comfortable. Then place your hands on top of your thighs with your palms facing down and breathe naturally. Try to relax and focus on the sensations in your nostrils, chest and stomach. Control your breathing. There is no need to change your pace. The important thing is to feel the sensation of your breath as it enters and leaves your body.

Once you realize you're focusing on something else, turn your attention back to your breath. Don't criticize yourself. Don't focus too much on the practice time of this activity. Exercise for as long as you like, whether it's short or long.
